Recently my Fiancé and I decided to give up our jobs working for the family business, in search of something more creative; something for us to start on our own and feel the passion and joy of starting and nurturing our own business. We decided to make a fresh start and move to a completely different city away from our family and friends, who we will miss dearly.
Part of us wanting to move is to simplify our lives; to not get caught up in the materialistic world we all seem to live in. This idea seems far easier in theory as I am a self confessed shopaholic, and therefore this decision could be particularly tough on me:)
But being the determined person I am, I really would like to stay out of the shops and stop throwing our money away on clothes and other useless items I find myself buying.
Seeing as we are moving, and let’s face it moving across country is not cheap, Justin and I have decided to start simplifying our lives before we move. It would be madness to move all our junk from one city to another, especially since this move will involve a considerable downsizes in lifestyle (smaller house, no fancy car etc) and not to mention finances.
Therefore we are starting this blog to document our journey, from de-cluttering our current house and all the steps and struggles involved in moving, to our new lifestyle and the choices we make along the way. I highly doubt we will be able to become complete minimalists; however, I am sure that we can strive towards a simpler, less cluttered, and happier lifestyle. We will mostly be using the blog “Becoming Minimalist” by Joshua Becker in order to guide us in the right direction and following the steps Joshua Becker and His family took to de-clutter their lives.
